Cashing out

Turning earned units into money, and how you get paid.

Employee portalPayouts

You cannot cash out whenever you like. Your company opens a cash out window, and requests are made during it. This lets the company plan the money properly.

The summary at the top#

Before you request anything, this tells you exactly where you stand.

Units available
Earned units you have not already requested.
What that is worth
Those units at the published unit value.
Window
Whether one is open and the date it closes. If nothing is open, you cannot request yet.

Making a request#

  1. 1Check a window is open. If not, wait for the email announcing the next one.
  2. 2Enter how many units you want to cash out. It does not have to be all of them.
  3. 3Check the amount shown, then submit.
  4. 4The request appears in the table below at Requested.
Note. Longpass never asks for bank details, card numbers or account information. If any screen or email appears to, it did not come from us.

How you actually get paid#

Longpass does not move money. An approved payout is paid by your employer through normal payroll, with your usual pay, taxed the way your employer handles it. If you want to know exactly when it lands, ask whoever runs payroll.

Tracking your request#

StatusMeaning
RequestedSubmitted. Waiting for your admin, normally after the window closes.
ApprovedAccepted in full. It goes to payroll.
Partially approvedRequests exceeded what the company set aside, so everyone got a fair share. Units not cashed out stay yours.
PaidSent to payroll. Expect it in your normal pay.
DeclinedNot accepted. Your admin's note explains, and your units stay yours.

Every change is emailed to you and shown here.

Why approval is not instant#

Requests are considered together once the window closes, not one at a time as they arrive. If everyone's requests add up to more than the company set aside, each person receives a proportional share. Reviewing them together is what makes that fair.
