Setting up a company
Creating a client workspace and its first admin.
Longpass operationsCompanies
Creating one#
- 1Select New company.
- 2Enter the company name and choose its web address. The address becomes
longpass.co/c/that-addressand is what their employees use, so keep it short and obviously theirs. - 3Set the plan terms: total units in the plan, the share of company value the plan represents, and the valuation multiple.
- 4Choose their subscription plan.
- 5Invite their first admin by email. They set their own password and take it from there.
Careful. The plan terms drive every number the client's employees will ever see. Confirm them against the signed agreement before saving, not afterwards.
Inside a company#
- Overview
- Employees, units issued, current unit value, recent activity.
- Plan and value
- Record results and publish a unit value. See Publishing a unit value.
- Windows
- Cash out windows the company has run, and what was paid.
- Audit
- Every consequential action taken in that workspace, with who did it and when.
Changing a subscription#
Change the plan here and their features follow immediately. Moving somebody down a plan locks the features that plan does not include. Their data is never deleted, so moving back up restores everything as it was.
Onboarding a client well#
- Agree the plan terms in writing before creating anything.
- Create the workspace and invite their admin the same day, while it is fresh.
- Walk their admin through Setting your plan up rather than sending a link and hoping.
- Publish a first unit value early. A portal showing a dash where the value should be undermines the whole thing.
